In the evening, January 30, the member of the Coordinating Committee of the movement "Russian Radicals" Dmitry Zlotnikov on the basis of absence of the "temporary Moscow registration" was detained by militia's officers and delivered to the Department of Internal Affairs "Krasnoselskoye". During the examination he was found in posession of two cellophane packets with marijuana (total weight - 5,5 gr). In the morning, January 31, Dmitry Zlotnikov was released under "obligation to appear" on February 3 before the investigator of the Department of Internal Affairs "Krasnoselskoye" Svetlana Anashkina. Criminal proceedings haven't been instituted and are not instituted till now.
Statement by Dmitry Zlotnikov, member of the Coordinating Committee of the movement "Russian Radicals", and his lawyer Sergey Bessonov:
"We ask employees of the Moscow militia to follow the way of their London colleagues who, being tired to "expose" criminals without crime - consumers of the prohibited psychoactive substances, launched the initiative of legalization of cannabis. The only help of the Moscow militia and the Office of Public Prosecutor we need is strict execution of the existing law, that is, institution of criminal proceedings on the fact of the offence stipulated by the article 228 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation - storage of drugs (marijuana) without purpose of selling.
We, as well as millions of our fellow citizens, are perfectly informed that every time we smoke a joint we commit a "crime without victim". But! We do not consider ourselves criminals and we are going to prove it in court. That's why we ask to institute criminal proceedings. We WANT A TRIAL. At the same time, we are grateful to the employees of the Department of Internal Affairs "Krasnoselskoye" for their humanity and understanding consisting in unwillingness to institute criminal proceedings in this concrete case".
