Statement of Alyona Asayeva, vice-president of the Coordinating Committee of Russian Radicals
I would not like to doubt objectivity and professionalism of the researches carried out by the federal research centre of the Ministry for Health of Russia which found out that "use of marijuana promotes development of some types of cancer and affects respiratory and immunity systems", that "a person smoking five cigarettes of marijuana per week, receives as much chemical combinations causing cancer as a person smoking a pack of cigarettes daily", and that "long use of marijuana causes changes in the brain similar to changes caused by alcohol".
But if, as it follows from conclusions of the Ministry for Health of Russia, marijuana is as harmful (I'd like to note: "as") for human organism as alcohol and tobacco which are widely distributed in Russia, why it is necessary to continue to prohibit this substance, while such drugs like alcohol and tobacco continue to remain legal?
