| April 29, 2004, at 14.00 In the Independent press center (Tverskoy boulevard 20, 2 floor) the press conference will be held "MAY 4 - WORLD MARIJUANA MARCH" The first march passed in 1997 in America in the form of a trip of many people in invalid carriages from Boston to Washington - to the office of the Food and Drug Administration (FDA) with the only purpose - to demand granting access to medical marijuana for patients with oncological diseases. After that similar actions passed in many cities of the world, and in the process of development the number of demands of participants of the movement increased. In 2002, the "Marijuana March" reached Russia. In 2002 and 2003 it was carried out by a group of enthusiasts in the form of distribution of leaflets and demonstrative smoking of cannabis. In March of 2004, the initiative group of independent people gathered and decided that the march is a good way to urge authorities to stop to lie about cannabis as about the most dangerous drug ostensibly ranking with heroin, to stop criminal repressions in respect of thousands of absolutely harmless for the society people who use cannabis, to stop anticonstitutional practice of withdrawal from free circulation of any truthful information concerned cannabis which disagrees with the information daily sounding out of the mouths of state officials, law enforcement officers and simple brainwashed philistines.
